Ghulam Nabi gets 'Azad' from Congress, resigned from all posts

The Congress, which is gearing up for the general elections of the year 2024, has suffered a major setback. Senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday resigned from all party posts. He has resigned from all party posts and primary membership, blaming former president Rahul Gandhi for the Congress's misfortune. Azad has sent his resignation letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi. A few days back, he had quit soon after he was named the president of the J&K Congress's campaign committee. Azad is the head of the G-23 group, which is angry with the Congress for not being sent to the Rajya Sabha.

In a letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Azad said that he has served the party with all his heart since the 1970s. But in the year 2013, when Rahul Gandhi became the party's vice-president, the entire working style of the party got ruined. Rahul started the game of sidelining the senior leaders of the party and the party leaders were captured by his followers. The arbitrariness of Rahul and his novice leaders started running on the party. An example of this is the tearing of an ordinance by Rahul Gandhi in front of the media, which was unanimously passed by the Union Cabinet.

He wrote in the letter praising Sonia Gandhi that AAP has given proper and effective leadership to the party but the childish antics of Rahul Gandhi damaged the dignified post of Prime Minister, which led to a crushing defeat of the Congress in the year 2014. Taking a jibe at the Gandhi family, Azad said that under Sonia Gandhi's leadership and Rahul Gandhi's supervision, the party suffered a crushing defeat in two Lok Sabha elections since 2014 and the Congress lost 39 out of 49 assembly elections held between 2014 and 2022.He said that under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, the situation of the party is getting worse. In his 5-page long letter, Azad made many more serious allegations against the party and broke his 50-year-old ties with the party.
