The sudden demise of Shivsangram Party President Vinayakrao Mete has created a wave of mourning in Maharashtra. Several leaders including Chief Minister Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis, Sharad Pawar Ajit Pawar reached Kamothe MGM Hospital in Navi Mumbai on Saturday morning to know about Mete's well being. 52-year-old Vinayak Mete has died in a horrific road accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. His driver and bodyguard have been seriously injured. Mete was coming towards Mumbai from Pune on Sunday morning. Then the driver lost control and collided with a truck near Bhatan Tunnel under Rasayani police station. The accident was so horrific that the car blew up. Mete died of a serious head injury. He was coming to Mumbai to attend a meeting of the Maratha community organized under the leadership of Chief Minister Shinde. Shiv Sena party chief Uddhav Thackeray has condoled the death of Mete. He said that the sudden demise of Mete, who constantly struggled for justice to the brothers and sisters of Maratha society, is heart-wrenching. May God give strength to his family in this time of sorrow.

Uddhav Thackeray said in his condolence message that Vinayak Rao got a chance to see him closely for many years. His struggle was for his community. Also his role was to get justice to every worker at the grassroots level. While with the BJP, he had frequent meetings with Gopinathrao. He was sure that his struggle would one day bring justice to the Maratha community. When the Maha Vikas Aghadi government was in Maharashtra, I always used to interact with him as the Chief Minister. Seeing his yearning and urge to give justice to the oppressed and running away, I found his work commendable. In the meetings of the Legislature Advisory Committee held in the Legislature premises during the session, he was always urged to have a special discussion regarding Maratha reservation in the Legislative Council.
